Club Minutes for the AGM held on Monday 29 October 2001

Chairman’s Report: Welcome and introduction

Minutes: Approved & Signed

Matters Arising: Rabbit treatment available for £36 through the Sports Trust. ACTION: Ben Brummond.

Secretary’s Report: MC reported that all sides had remained in the divisions and the 1st XI were 5th and the 2ndXI were 3rd. Bill Chambers won the Division 5 bowling averages with 7.51. Both Evening League Teams remained in their divisions and Toby Drummond won the Division 3 Batting Award with an average of 61.11. Ben Drummond won the Division 2 Ground Award (again!!). All these winners were congratulated on behalf of the entire Club. The emergence of a number of Junior players in both teams was a significant highlight as they all made good contributions to the success. This is due to the current and past Coaches and their commitment to the club.

Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer reported a £1400 surplus this year with the Race Night making a profit of £808. The competitions held on the ground also added welcome income, these included the Diggle Trophy, Junior Single Wicket, a League Match and Lord Taveners game. Expenditure was well controlled and the Club has a surplus in the bank. It is proposed to buy some new netting and the Sports Trust would be approached for financial help. ACTION : Ben Drummond. The Treasurer and Auditor were thanked for their continued excellent contribution to the financial matters of the club and it was agreed to increase the Groundman’s contribution to £500 per year.

Junior Report: The Club ran under 11, 13 and 15 sides this year. Notable performances were the U11’s finishing second to Harrogate in their section, losing only two games all season (both to Harrogate) and the selection of three U13’s and four U11’s to represent the League side in the Lord’s Taverners competition. Evan Challis (U13’s) and Andy Parker (U11’s) ran the League sides and our Juniors were worthy representatives of the club.

The U15’s members expressed their wish to take part in an U17 team next year and potential players’ details should be passed to Chris Stansfield.

The conclusion to the season was a very successful single wicket competition attended by the Club President who kindly presented the Trophies on the day.

There will be U17, U15 and U13 sides this year with indoor nets starting in February.

The Secretary thanked Andy Parker, Craig Eustace, Chris Stansfield and Evan Challis for their hard work & effort running the junior teams.

ACTION: Andy Parker would ask Evan Challis if he would like to be a guest of the Club at the Dinner Dance.

Election of Officers: The President, V-Presidents, Chairman, Treasurer and Joint Secretaries were re-elected on bloc.

ACTION: The Chairman will write to Dave Rowlay and Jim Metcalfe inviting them to become Vice-Presidents. Alan Wigby stood down as Representative on the Sports Trust Committee and Clive Carass was voted on in his place. The Chairman thanked Alan for his work on the Committee.

Competitions: After a discussion about our inclusion in the Village Knockout, it was agreed that the club continue with all current competitions and rejoin the Ripon Knockout. It was agreed that advance notice would be sent out about the dates for these competitions.

Sponsorship & Fund Raising: It was proposed that a Race-Night to be held in 2002. W Wigglesworth offered to run a Fur and Feather Whist Night on the 15th December and would talk to various members for assistance.

Subscriptions & Match Fees: It was agreed that there would be no change to the match fees. Subscriptions would increase by £5 to cover the increased management fee levied by the Sports Trust. ACTION: Clive Carass would ask the Sports Trust Committee for clarification as to how the current fees were calculated as the Cricket Club pays a higher proportion that any other club

Match Fees: £5, which is £2.50 fee to the club, £2.00 tea and 50p for the scorer.
Subscriptions: £30 per Senior, £15 for Juniors, £15 for Evening League only with a qualification of 3 games.

Wicket Maintenance: The wicket has been top dressed and seeded in September. It would be fed and moss killer put down in the winter. The Groundman thanked Kenny Horner for the boards along the hedge, Wilf Wigglesworth and Dave Rowlay for the covers and Stuart Barker and Clive Carass for their support with the covers.

Annual Dinner Dance: M Crawshaw informed the meeting that the dinner would be held at the Rose Manor Hotel, Boroughbridge on Friday 7th December 2001 with tickets priced £22 & that raffle prizes and help in selling tickets would be appreciated.

AOB: T Henry advised that indoor cricket starts no the 11th November. There was a discussion about the nets and attendance and it was agreed to keep the net dates as previous. ACTION: All Club Members to encourage Members to attend nets.

There was a discussion about the provision of free dinner dance tickets to the Ladies who do teas. After a vote, it was agreed to maintain the current practice for the 2002 season.

With no other business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 10.00 p.m.
