Burton Leonard Under 13's Report 2000
We had a total of 16 players, 15 of whom batted and 14 of whom bowled, with varying degrees of success. We had a reasonably successful season winning 5 matches, loosing 5, tying 1 and 1 with no result. This gave us 12 points and a respectable mid table finish.
The batting trophy was won by Tom Wells with an excellent average of 21.16, in fact 7 of the boys had an average of more than 15 in the batting department. Wickets were hard to come by, the averages were topped by Alex Duffield (well done), with an average of 14.75. The lads fielded confidently and competently during the season, completing a total of 12 catches and 13 run-outs.
The most improved player of the season award was a difficult decision, with several boys in contention, but after much deliberation the award went to Simeon Baines, who's batting and fielding improved immensely during the season (however his bowling and hair colour DID NOT).
I would like to thank the boys and their parents for their commitment during the season, and hope for more success next season.
Yours
Evan Challis.
P.S. Due to the inclement weather the Single Wicket Tournament was cancelled. I have therefore taken the decision to award the Player of the Season Trophy to Tom Wells.
